Looavul. Luhvul. Louewille. Looaville. Looeyville?

Saturday, March 18, my dear friend, Caitie, and I headed South on 65 towards Louisville. Our plan was to hit two wineries and explore Louisville's restaurant and bar scene. River City Winery  in New Albany, Indiana and Huber Winery in Starlight, Indiana were are pit stops. We got to RCW around 11am. It is located in a large storefront in this adorable little town. (Adorable was my choice word for the weekend! Ha!) From what I saw, RCW has a restaurant, bar/tasting area and banquet room upstairs, which I assume was being used for a bridal shower. They also had a large outdoor space but we did not utilize that area. We went straight to the bar. We got to choose 7 wines for $5. I don't have my tasting sheet handy, but I'm currently drinking a bottle (did I say bottle, I mean glass 😉) of Catawba and it was my FAVE. It's a sweet rosé, very smooth (6% residual sugar). Fun Fact: You can get an idea of how sweet a wine will be by looking at the residual sugar (RS). Bone...

"Would / Would Not Return" List

Like I said, I'm not going to completely review the handful of wineries I visited between September and December but here's my recommendation list. ***Please note: I am NOT a wine-tasting professional. I typically enjoy semi-sweet, sweet, dessert and/or fruit wines. I know this doesn't appeal to everyone's palettes so take my recommendations with a grain of salt. I also feel that the entire tasting experience is important, including but not limited to physical building/structure of tasting room, customer service, price of wine and location of winery. In future reviews, I will discuss not only the wine but also the atmosphere and accessibility of the wineries!*** Would Return to: Oliver Winery (Bloomington) Two EE's Winery (Huntington) Buck Creek Winery (Southeast Indianapolis) Country Heritage (LaOtto) Easley Winery (Downtown Indianapolis) Fruit Hills (Bristol) Gateway (Goshen) New Day Meadery (Fountain Square, Indianapolis) Owen Valley (Spencer) Chat...

Indiana Wine Adventures

Hey y'all! As most of you probably know (or have seen on Facebook), a bucket list item of mine is to visit all the Indiana Wineries. I finally entered the "adult world" and thought I needed an "adult hobby" ... wine tasting it is!  I found my original list on www.indianawineries.com  in September 2016. However, I recently shifted to using Purdue University's list found on www.indianawines.org (small difference in name, but BIG difference in quality of website and reliability of information). I decided to not set a time limit on my adventures because I wanted to keep them as adventures, not chores to accomplish. I don't have much method to my madness, just going with the flow (another goal of mine). If I have a free weekend I check out the map to see which wineries strike my fancy and see if any friends or family want to join. I weirdly enjoy making itineraries so I try to research each winery to learn operating hours, cost of tastings and other key ...
